A series of colour and black and white photos taken over the period September 1975 to March 1976 leading to the closure of RAF Station Gan in the Maldives. Royal Air Force Gan was a staging post for RAF aircraft flying to the Far East. There was also a large communications unit which was part of the Defence Communications Network (DCN) and a Marine Craft Unit equipped with High Speed Launches for Air Sea Rescue.

The Richard Harcourt collection. Richard was on Gan in 75/76 and was station photographer when the station closed down. He spent a lot of time going around the various sections taking these unique photographs, a poignant reminder of what was about to be lost for all time. I thank Richard deeply for their use.
